A Guide to Salvation Made Simple
1. THE BAD NEWS. As human beings, we are sinners. (Romans 3:23.)
The appropriate consequence for our sins would be eternal punishment in hell and the lake of fire.
2. THE GOOD NEWS. Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God, sacrificed himself on the cross to pay for your sins. He was buried and then resurrected three days later, offering you the gift of everlasting life in heaven and on the new earth.
(1 Corinthians 15:3-4. Romans 6:23.)
3. The Means to Salvation.
By placing your belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, you will be saved.
(Acts 16:31.) It is solely through faith in Christ that salvation is attained.
4. The Assurance of Salvation.
Jesus explicitly stated in John 6:47, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me has eternal life.”
Jesus said in John 6:47. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
Salvation is a gift from God and does not require any actions or efforts of self-righteousness. It is impossible for humans to offer their own righteousness to God, as no amount of good deeds can undo the wrongs that have been done. Jesus willingly took on the burden of our sin and paid a debt that was not his own, as we were unable to repay it ourselves. Salvation is not something we can give to ourselves, but rather something we must receive. As sinners, we are in need of Jesus as our Saviour.
To reach Heaven, one does not need to undergo water baptism or perform any other action. The only requirement is to place trust in the Lord as the Saviour. This is supported by Romans 4:5-6 which states that those who do not work but believe in Jesus, even as ungodly individuals, will have their faith credited as righteousness. It is an incredible truth that God imparts His righteousness to believers while their sins are placed upon Christ.
God’s simple plan for salvation revolves around acknowledging our sinful nature and recognizing that without believing in Jesus, we are destined to spend eternity in Hell and the lake of fire. However, by accepting Jesus as our crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, we are granted forgiveness for all our sins and bestowed with the gift of eternal life through faith. This plan emphasizes the importance of faith in Jesus as the means to attain redemption and everlasting life.
BELIEVE in Jesus Christ and you will be saved!
Eternal life is a completely free gift from God. The gift of eternal life stems from God’s unconditional love for humanity, which motivated Christ to willingly endure the cross, spilling His blood and dying for us (Romans 5:8; 1st John 3:16). Hebrews 12:2 says, “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
